A POPULAR newspaper vendor of Queenstown, Essequibo was shot dead when bandits raided his home on Friday night. Chunilall (only name given), a father of three, reportedly died on the spot.

According to Commander of ‘G’ Division Crystal Robinson, the incident occurred around 21:00 hours, and the two young men who committed the act are on the run. Chunilall is well known to residents of Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), as he used to sell the daily newspapers in almost every community on the Essequibo Coast.

He was also known for his jovial spirit. Reports indicate that the bandits carted off cash and jewellery from the home of the vendor. Police have since launched an investigation into the incident.
