Businessman in court for preventing a man from going about his business freely

MAGISTRATE Sherdel Isaac-Marcus, on Monday, granted a 23-year-old businessman $40,000 bail for preventing a man from going about his business freely.

George Smith of East La Penitence appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.

Particulars of the charge stated that, on December 22, 2019, at Hadfield Street, Georgetown, he prevented Andy Gibson from going about his business freely.

According to information, Smith had made an allegation that Gibson took some money from his (Smith) mother. Smith then confronted Gibson, arresting him to take him to the station and Gibson resisted. The matter was reported and Smith was charged.

Magistrate Isaac-Marcus granted Smith $40,000 bail and adjourned the matter until January 27, 2020.
