SBF Petroleum/CGI Jaguars One Day League| Winners seeking added points, as losers look for points

ROUND three of the ongoing Jaguars One Day League continues today across the country as winning teams seek added momentum while the unfortunate ones hunt a change of fortune as action intensifies.

Essequibo will venture out of area, as they seek to continue their winning ways against West Berbice, one of the better teams in the competition, up at Bush Lot, West Coast, Berbice.

Having won two in two, the defending champions Essequibo will want to carry on especially with the forms of Kemol Savory, Quintin Sampson, Ricardo Adams, Ronsford Beaton and a few others who have been their match-winners.

Batsman Kevon Sinclair, along with Guyana Jaguars bowlers Gudakesh Motie and Keon Joseph, is in form and will play a huge role in today’s encounter.
The Berbicians will also fancy themselves playing at home as this is Essequibo’s first match out of area since the tourney bowled off.

A woeful Georgetown were hammered in back-to-back games by Essequibo then by West Demerara. Skipper Leon Johnson has been making starts but his star-studded side have misfired on two occasions, making today’s encounter against Lower Corentyne at Bourda, a must-win match for the veteran side.

Lower Corentyne will be more confident, having won by 7 wickets in round two and could take their momentum into the third round and against a hapless Demerara. Lower Corentyne might have their tails up and with Kelvin Umroa, Seon Hetmyer and Kevlon Anderson in-form, they could be in for a match against the Demerara outfit.

At their home turf on the Enmore ground, East Coast, another out-of-sorts team, will be seeking their first win when they oppose the uncanny Upper Corentyne. The Berbice franchise almost bowled out Essequibo in round two thanks to their dangerous trio of bowlers in Gaurav Ramesh, Sylus Tyndall and Dimitri Cameron who all played huge roles.

Meanwhile, East Bank who are desperately in need of a morale-boosting win against the Tagenarine Chanderpaul-led side West Demerara, will have their tussle at the Tuschen ground as both sides could seek to outdo the other as the tournament progresses.
Weather permitting, matches will bowl off at 09:30hrs. (Clifton Ross)
