THE Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) last Sunday launched four different Let’s Bet Sports competitions across Berbice as it continues its 80th anniversary celebrations.
BCB president Hilbert Foster, along with Let’s Bet Sports Brand Manager Ian De Barros and Brand Ambassador Rawle Toney, launched the tournaments at the Area ‘H’ Ground.
Foster stated that BCB would be hosting four tournaments at the 100 Balls levels for teams in West Berbice, New Amsterdam/Canje, Lower Corentyne and Upper Corentyne.
Each Zone would produce its own champion and then the four champions would play another tournament to decide the overall winner. The BCB boss hailed the $1M investment by Let’s Bet Sports Company as a blessing for the Ancient County.
Toney expressed delight at the start of the tournaments after a long delay due to the rainy season. The company, Toney stated, was committed to a long-term investment into Berbice cricket and called on teams to play within the spirit of the game.
The visiting, sponsored delegation witnessed the entire opening game and saw Rose Hall Town Bakewell cruise past UG Elites by ten wickets.
