NAREI’s Plant Pathology Entomology and Weed Science Department

FROM time-to-time our farms are affected by pests, diseases and weeds, which negatively impact productivity and by extension the livelihood of farmers. Thankfully, there is a department at the National Agricultural Research and Extension Institute (NAREI) responsible for research in management of pests, diseases and weeds in Guyana.

The Plant Pathology Entomology and Weed Science Department also caters for providing academic instructions and services on good agricultural practices for farmers. One of its major achievements was the development of the Acoushi Ant Bait that is produced and sold locally for the management of acoushi ant.
