LOCAL attorney, Dexter Todd, is expected to travel to Belize to represent the Guyanese National, William ‘Danny’ Mason, who is on trial for the gruesome murder of a pastor in 2016.

Mason, also known as Rajesh Ouelette, is currently before Justice Antonette Moore at the Supreme Court in Belmopan, Belize.

In July 2016, Mason, and four men said to be in his employ – Terence Fernandez, Ashton Vanegas, Keiron Fernandez, and Ernest Castillo – were charged for the murder of Belmopan pastor Llewellyn Lucas.

The trial commenced in March 2019 and the men were represented by attorneys Herbert Panton and Rachel Montejo.

However, the lawyers later withdrew their appearance in the trial causing the five men to seek new attorneys.

Mason, had selected Guyanese lawyer, Attorney Dexter Todd, who is well known for his practice in both criminal and civil matters. The trial continues on May 14, 2019.
According to reports, the head of Pastor Lucas was found in a vehicle belonging to Mason, in which he and the other men had arrived at a bar in Belmopan.

The head was found in a plastic bag in a bucket. It is alleged that Lucas had been kidnapped and killed at a ranch belonging to Mason on the Phillip Goldson Highway, Belize.
Police, however, were unable to find Lucas’ body, but believe it was burnt on the ranch.
Mason’s arrest had made international headlines, not only because of the sensational nature of the murder, but because he was a personal friend and business partner of Belize Minister of National Security, John Saldivar, and many other Cabinet Ministers.
Subsequent investigations revealed that Mason, originally from Guyana, was known as a con-man and extortionist.

His wife, believed to have been involved in the kidnapping and murder, was detained but later released
