Management of the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) on Monday signed on to a new two-year collective labour agreement with the Clerical and Commercial Workers Union (CCWU), at the Boardroom of the Department of Labour on Brickdam.
The signing was overseen by Chief Labour Officer, Charles Ogle, while present on behalf of the Union was its CCWU President Sherwood Clarke, Consultant Grantley Culbard and Committee members Kobena Paul and Andrew Younge.
Signing on behalf of CJIA were Human Resources Manager, Yeolena Callender, and Senior Clerical Assistants, Naresh Rhajcoomar ad Bibi Hanif.
Clarke commended the ease of the process to come to a decision on the new agreement.
“I want to thank the management and the continued cooperation that we have. I am optimistic that the relationship will continue to be a nice one. There are some gaps that we need to fill in when it comes to the workers but I want to congratulate the CEO and the human resources team,” Clarke said
Ogle applauded to continuous amicable state of the relationship between the two entities over the years.
The new agreement included salary increases, increases to allowances and improvements to the companies maternity leave policy. For salaries the employees would be given 2019 increases of an additional 50 percent of the already agreed upon assigned increases for 2019.
Increases ranged from 0.5 percent for employees making $1 million and above and seven percent for the lowest scale employee making up to $99,999.
