THE Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) ushered in the Easter season with an afternoon of cultural presentations and an inter-departmental Easter Hat competition.
The Public Education and Awareness unit, the Media Management unit and the Finance department of the ERC, were joined by the Office of the Chairman and the Investigation unit in the hat competition. Each of the four competitors designed hats that were meant to be symbolic of Easter and foster camaraderie among the workers.

“As we celebrate Easter or the Easter season, there are several things unique about it,” Chairman of the Ethnic Relations Commission, Reverend Dr. John Smith said at the competition.
The Easter hats and kite-flying are popular components, according to him, but he also urged that all persons remember that reason for the season was the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his subsequent resurrection on the third day. The reverend related to the small gathering that Jesus was born from a virgin which meant he came to being without sin. And though he lived a sinless life, he was still crucified as he paid for the sins of the world. .
As such, he said that Jesus provides the example of how to live a good life.
