Teenager killed, others hospitilised in payment dispute

A 25-year-old labourer of Swan Village, Soesdyke /Linden Highway, is expected to be charged this week in the aftermath of the murder of a teenager on Friday at the Timehri Docks, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
Dead is David Toney, 18, a labourer of Alliance Road, Timehri, EBD.
Reports indicate that the victim and his parents, Mark Toney, 48, and Judith Hosea, 39, both of Hill Top, Timehri was involved in an argument with the suspect and a group of men over payment owed for loading cabbage onto a truck.

During the argument, the suspect began scuffling with Mark and David Toney and, shortly after, he whipped out a knife from his waist and stabbed Mark several times about the body and then stabbed David in his left side chest.

Judith Hosea, who attempted to intervene, also received a stab wound to the back of her right arm.

Mark and David left for the Timehri Police Station to report the confrontation and stabbing; however, on their way, David collapsed and died on the roadway.

The other injured persons are receiving medical attention. Several persons were taken into police custody pending investigations.
