A Pepper Hill, Mahdia resident, was on Tuesday, February 05, 2019, released on $170,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan for the charge of felonious wounding.
Paul Simon, 38, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that, on February 1, 2019 at 111 Miles, Mahdia, Potaro River, he wounded Rahaman Moses with intent to maim, disfigure or cause grievous bodily harm.

Police Prosecutor Inspector Gordon Mansfield, told the court that, on the day in question, Moses gave Simon $5,000 to purchase beers for him.
Mansfield explained that Simon accepted the money and purchased the beers for Moses, but did not hand over any change.
As a result, Moses inquired about his change, causing Simon to strike him to his face.
The prosecutor disclosed that the victim suffered from a laceration to his face which was 10cm long.

The chief magistrate, with no objection from the prosecution, released Simon on $170,000 bail with the condition that he reports to the Mahdia Police Station every Friday.
The matter was transferred to the Mahdia Magistrate’s Court for April 16, 2019.
