A Princeville, Mahdia resident was on Tuesday, February 05, 2019, released on $150,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan for the charge of felonious wounding.
Keith Daniels, 19, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that, on February 1, 2019, at Princeville, Mahdia, Potaro River, he wounded Lorenzo Williams with intent to maim, disfigure or cause grievous bodily harm.
Police Prosecutor Inspector Gordon Mansfield, told the court that, on the day in question, Daniels and Williams were at a bar consuming alcohol.
Mansfield explained that Daniels became annoyed when Williams accidentally spilled his drink on him.
As a result, Daniels began throwing glass bottles at Williams, who managed to run away but fell in the process, a short distance away.
The prosecutor disclosed that Daniels armed himself with a glass bottle and began stabbing Williams about his body.
According to Mansfield, Williams suffered from lacerations to his head, face, neck, hands and arms.
The Chief Magistrate, with no objection from the prosecution, released Daniels on $150,000 bail, with the condition that he reports to the Mahdia Police Station every Friday.
The matter was transferred to the Mahdia Magistrate’s Court for April 16, 2019.
