A 27-year-old minibus conductor, on Monday, January 28, 2019, found himself before the magistrate at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, for assaulting a traffic officer.
Damion Thornhill, of South Vryheid Lust, East Coast Demerara, made his appearance before Acting Chief Magistrate, Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus, and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Particulars of the charge alleged that, on January 28, 2019, at the Route 42 Minibus Park, Georgetown, Thornhill assaulted Police Constable Krishanand, who was executing his duties.
With no objection raised by Police Prosecutor Quinn Harris, Thornhill was released on $10,000 bail. The matter was adjourned until February11, 2019.
In 2017, Thornhill, while operating a Route 44 minibus, was charged for assaulting a traffic officer. He was taken before Magistrate Zamilla Ally-Seepaul, at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court. He was found guilty and fined. His licence was also suspended.
