Valvoline continues Rahaman family tradition

LUBRICANT brand Valvoline has continued its sponsorship of the Rahaman name by sponsoring the youngest addition Nathan, ahead of the second round of the Caribbean Junior Karting Academy Trophy (CJKAT) next weekend.

The company presented young Nathan, who competed last year in the 60cc Kids cup, a cheque to assist with his campaign in the three-leg series is being contested in Barbados.

“The brand Valvoline is a big brand in racing all over the world. Every year we have been sponsoring and we are so happy to be sponsoring a young person.”
“This may be a big thing this year; we don’t know. It is in the infancy stage right now but it could be something that is amazing and will bring a lot of pride to all of us in Guyana.”
He noted that the automotive world syncs with the Valvoline name and as such, their interest in racing was something that was written.

“When we brought the product first, we started in racing and it was only right that we continue there; we started with Jad (Nathan’s grandfather) and Ryan (Nathan’s father) and we moved onto the son.”
After the completion of the first two rounds in early January, Rayden Persaud is the highest-placed Guyanese with 55 points.

In the first round, he picked up 35 points, finishing seventh while in Sunday’s second round, Rayden managed just 20 points. His nearest competitor is Jeremy Ten-Pow, who has 54.5 points.
Elan Rahaman has 53 points, Nathan Rahman has 45 after missing most of Saturday. Paige Mendonca has 32 and Zachary Persaud has 25.

Atop the regional table is Calem Maloney, the Barbadian. He has 158 points and is being chased by countryman Adam Mallalieu who has 144 points. Ryan Chisholm of Jamaica is third with 103 points while countryman Zander Williams (90) is fourth. Jamaica’s Tommi Gore (82) rounds out the top 5.

The team also received sponsorship from Dyna’s Embroidery which provided team jerseys for all the drivers.
