Remains of boat captain found

COMMANDER of ‘F’ Division, Senior Superintendent Kevin Adonis on Thursday said that the police have retrieved the remains of boat captain Junior Benjamin and that a post-mortem would have to be conducted to determine his cause of death.

The Guyana Chronicle was told that the body of the man was discovered on Monday and it was suspected that he might have drowned but the police were still mandated to get involved as they have to determine if there was any foul play associated with his death. The commander, however, made it clear that based on checks carried out on the body by police detectives who travelled to the area, no marks of violence were found.

Police detectives moved into the area on Tuesday afternoon after they received word of the discovery of the body. The deceased, who is said to be from Fair View, Kurupakari, met his demise sometime on Monday, January 21. The area where the incident took place is a far distance from where the police are based, according to our sources.
