…file being prepared for legal advice
THE Guyana Police Force on Wednesday confirmed that one of its officers is being investigated for rape and that the file is being prepared to be sent for legal advice.
On Monday, information surfaced that the officer was accused of rape by a teen relative of his who was left in his care sometime over the weekend. According to what the Guyana Chronicle was told, the police officer made advances to the young girl while her mother was out with another friend. It is unclear what acts were committed but upon the return of the child’s mother and the friend, the incident of what took place between the teen and the police officer was recounted to one of the female adults and the police were informed.
The officer in question was contacted and had the allegation put to him which he denied. Contacted on Wednesday, Director of Child Care Services, Ann Greene, said that her agency was still investigating the matter. Greene said that the department was preparing to conduct the forensic investigation which includes the recording of the statement of the victim that she does not have to repeat herself or the ordeal at any point during the continuation of the investigation.
