THE Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation has released a list of lifters that could represent it in international competitions next year.

The list, which was recently released, includes both male and female lifters from various categories and divisions.

Nineteen lifters have been shortlisted, but several of them are not assured of travelling, since they will have to achieve minimum qualifying totals for their weight classes at local events next year.

According to information from the GAPF, the athletes who are still to make the minimum qualifying total will be allowed to guest lift at any local event in 2019 prior to their scheduled international meet.

Gumendra Shewdas has qualified to represent Guyana in both the Junior Equipped 53kg and the Open Equipped 59kg divisions.

The preliminary shortlist of athletes also includes Franklyn Brisport (Luke Open M2 Equipped and Classic 66kg), Noel Cummings (Open and M4 Classic 66kg), Carlos Petterson-Griffith (Equipped and Classic Open 93kg), Joseph Stoll (M2 Classic 105kg), Frank Tucker (Open and M3 Equipped 105kg), Runita White (Open Classic 84+kg), Natoya Robinson (Open Classic 84+kg), Martin Webster (M2 Classic 105kg), Nadina Taharally (Open and M1 Classic 72kg), Paul Adams (Open Classic 83kg) and Nairanjan Singh (Open M4 equipped 83kg).

The shortlisted athletes who still have to make qualifying totals are Christopher Sookdeo (Open Classic 74kg), Junica Pluck (Open Equipped 63kg), Grace Babb (Open Classic 72kg), Blossom Babb (Open Classic 84kg), Lisa Oudit (Open Classic 84kg), Feroz Hussain (Open Classic 93kg) and Bjorn Williams (Open Classic 105kg).

According to information from the association, the list may be subject to changes or updates, but no lifter would be added to the list; however lifters can be removed.
