Rose Hall Town won their fifth first-division title on Saturday.

A SEVEN-WICKET haul from national all-rounder Clinton Pestano propelled the Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets to a 51-run victory over the Young Warriors Cricket Club in the final of the RHTYSC/Busta Champion of Champions 40-over tournament on Saturday last at the Cumberland ground.

Pestano, who was named man-of-the-match when Guyana Jaguars played the Windward Islands Volcanoes in the Regional four-day championship earlier this month, again delivered with his pace bowling—this time he helped his club team to their fifth first-division title for 2018.

The Berbice Cricket Board’s 23rd final for the year started with Rose Hall winning the toss and batting first.

Led by Kevin Sinclair (36) and Pestano (30), Gizmos and Gadgets laboured to 132 before they were bowled out in 34 overs.  Ishwar Singh nabbed 3-7 in 2.3 overs for Young Warriors, while Trevon Stanislaus grabbed 2-22.

Young Warriors in reply were given a solid start with Alex Algoo (2x4s, 4x6s) leading the attack with a game high 42, but Pestano did serious damage. He removed both openers (Singh for 23) before he and Keith Simpson bowled out the side for 81 in 14.3 overs.

Pestano finished with 7-28 from seven overs, while Simpson nabbed 2-21 from 5.1 overs.
