AS the countdown continues to the start of GFF-ExxonMobil International Futsal Festival, scheduled to take place at Cliff Anderson Sports Hall from December 27 to 31, the New GPC Inc. is on board and has joined the list of partners in support of the inaugural tournament.
This commitment was made last Thursday in the form of the printing of invitations and tickets as well as an undisclosed monetary contribution, which will go towards airline tickets for the international participating teams.
Elizabeth Ram, the company’s Marketing Assistant, presented the contribution on behalf of New GPC Inc. while Aubrey ‘Shanghai’ Major, one of the tournament’s organisers, received on behalf of the GFF.
The tournament, a first in Guyana, will see Trinidad and Tobago’s Morvant Caledonia United headline the list of teams from overseas which also features ZV All-Stars from Suriname, and a Brazilian side from the state of Sau Paulo.
The Guyana Select side will also come up against a team from Linden, East Bank Demerara, East Coast Demerara and West Demerara football associations.
On December 27, the tournament will open with a female encounter, followed by the March Past of the participating teams.
Morvant Caledonia United will face the Linden unit from 20:00hrs, then make way for Brazil versus West Demerara, Georgetown against Suriname and Guyana versus East Coast clash will bring the curtain down on night one of the four-night fiesta.
The winning side team will pocket $1.2M, while second- through fourth-place will go home with $600 000, $300 000 and $100 000 respectively.
