CAMEX Restaurants, Inc., under the Church’s Chicken brand, is the latest entity to support the GFF-ExxonMobil/STAG Beer International Futsal tournament, when the agency’s Marketing Consultant presented a sponsorship cheque to aid their interest.
The presentation was made Monday at the Church’s Middle and Camp Street outlet by Deslyn Griffith to GFF president Wayne Forde and Kashif and Shanghai representative Aubrey ‘Shanghai’ Major.
Griffith expressed pleasure at her company’s commitment to the success of the tournament, while acknowledging that they have been active in the community, exploring sporting and other opportunities for growth.
Griffith noted their “brand is about sharing the good times with the communities and so it was an easy decision to partner with the organisation.”
In wishing the tournament well, Griffith said they are hoping the tournament will “bring more opportunities for more futsal competitions in Guyana and increase the level of awareness of the sport.”
The four-day tournament will kick off with six matches on December 27. The Surinamese are scheduled to play the fifth match of the evening against a Georgetown All-Stars team.
The other international teams participating in the festival include Morvant Caledonia United from Trinidad and Tobago and a Sao Paulo selection from Brazil.
Apart from Guyana, the other local, participating teams are an East Coast All-Stars, Linden All Stars, Georgetown All-Stars and West Demerara All-Stars.
The winning team will pocket $1.2M while the losing finalists will receive half that amount. Third- and fourth-placed finishers will pocket $300 000 and $100 000 respectively.
