Former Minister of Housing, Irfaan Ali was on Wednesday arrested by agents of the Special Organised Crimes Unit (SOCU) and later taken to the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court to answer to several corruption charges.
Ali is expected to appear before the Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan to answer to a string of charges in relation to the sale of state lands at Pradoville 2 on the East Coast of Demerara.
The former minister and current Opposition parliamentarian was arrested at his home on Wednesday morning. He was placed in the courts lock-ups at the court as he awaits his case to be called by the magistrate.
