A PEDESTRIAN succumbed to his injuries on Sunday night after a motorcyclist crashed into him at Princes and John Streets, Georgetown.

Dead is Orin Claudius Roberts, 60, of Lot 23 John and Norton Streets.

Reports indicate that the pedestrian was standing on Princes Street awaiting to cross and as the motorcyclist approached John Street he lost control and collided with the pensioner.

Residents said that as a result of the collision, both the pedestrian and the motor cyclist fell onto the road surface and received injuries about their bodies. They were picked up in an unconscious state by public spirited citizens and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where they were seen and examined by a doctor on duty and admitted.

Roberts was later pronounced dead after succumbing to his injuries while the motorcyclist was regarded as critical.

The body of the pedestrian is at the Georgetown Public Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination as police continue their investigations.
