A THIRTY-one-year -old city hotel supervisor was on Monday charged before City Magistrate Judy Latchman for stealing money from one of the hotel’s guests.
Alicia Hunter of East Rumveldt pleaded guilty to the charge which alleged that between July 4 and July 5 at Georgetown she stole $2,700 USD equivalent to $540,000 GYD, property of Wilbert Solchan.
Prosecutor Quinn Harris told the court that the victim was a guest at the hotel between July 4 and July 5. It is alleged that on the date mentioned in the charge, the victim secured his money and went out. However upon his return the money was missing. He then made a report to the police station and when the officers arrived at the hotel Hunter confessed to stealing the money and taking it home.
The victim, who was also present in court, explained that he would not be offering evidence in the matter since he would be returning home shortly and he had gotten back the money the woman had stolen from him.
As such, the matter was dismissed against Hunter.
