WITH the aim of strengthening the reservoir of coaches in Berbice, 40 potential cricket coaches in the Ancient County successfully completed the Brian Ramphal Coaching Programme at the Albion ground on Saturday last.
The coaches are now expected to go back to their respective clubs and assist others.
Ten of them would be selected by the coaching panel to sit the Level 1 Coaching Programme of Cricket West Indies (CWI).
Philbert Wilburgh of Police was selected as the best coach. The two-day programme was organised by the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) and was facilitated by Level III cricket coach, Winston Smith, who was assisted by Guyana/West Indies female all-rounder, Tremayne Smartt, along with Balram Samaroo and former Guyana all-rounder and current coach of the National Women’s team, Andre Percival.
Meanwhile, President of the BCB, Hilbert Foster hailed the Brian Ramphal Coaching Programme as a major investment.
