DR miner killed at Black Water backdam

THE police in ‘F’ Division are investigating an alleged robbery/murder committed on Pedro Pablo Rosario, 55 years, a miner of The Dominican Republic, which occurred at a mining camp in Black Water Backdam, Cuyuni River, by three armed men early Friday morning.
Police said an initial investigation has revealed that Rosario was relaxing in a hammock at the watch camp, about 30 feet from the dredge, when one of the suspects pounced and discharged a round hitting him. The three suspects then proceeded to the dredge, held the other employees at gunpoint, removed two mats from the sluice box and escaped. The investigation continues.
