FOLLOWING publication of the story headlined “Government officers reportedly linked to illegal activities”, in the Guyana Chronicle on November 5, 2017, Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) Tax Officer Rayan Khan, through his attorney Nigel Hughes, said the
article contained defamatory statements and requested an apology.
The information contained in the article was taken from the Commission of Enquiry into the discovery of a foreign aircraft which entered Guyana illegally and landed near the village of Yupukari, Rupununi, Region 9, in 2016. The CoI was headed by Brigadier (ret’d) Edward Collins and the report was submitted to the National Assembly on Thursday, November 02, 2017.
The Guyana Chronicle at no time sought to intentionally malign the character of Mr Khan and apologises for any inconvenience caused to him as a result of the publication.
