Dear Editor,
As we close off Indigenous Month 2017, many would have contributed positively towards the growth of Guyana just after Independence 1966.
However, I am almost certain that many would have done their part prior to Independence and as I was perusing a historic book of 1961 captioned ‘TIMEHRI MAGAZINE…The Journal of The Royal Agricultural and Commercial Society of British Guiana’, they featured one ‘KOKO MARY’ who appears to be an Indigenous woman and I am almost certain she played a pivotal role from or within her community and former British Guiana at large.
Perhaps a family member or historian can join and educate us briefly who was Koko Mary? Attached you will find a photo image of the cover of the magazine and a black and white photo of the subject in question.
Regards
