GUYANA went down 3-1 to Suriname in their opening match in the female football

competition at this year’s Inter-Guiana Games (IGG) in Paramaribo.
Playing at the Franklin Essed Stadion in front of a vociferous crowd, Suriname found the net through Candy Chin See Chong who netted a double, and Shifana Zesburg.
Tiandi Smith scored Guyana’s lone goal in a spirited performance by the visitors.
Guyana had several chances but could not convert, owing to Suriname’s stubborn defence.
Twelve-year-old Jalade Trim had a sensational performance, but failed to find the net. She won the hearts of the crowd with her skills and speed, since they were amused at her ability for her size.
Guyana will have a chance to avenge their defeat tomorrow.
