St Joseph, School of the Nations suffer third round defeats
St JOSEPH High suffered their first defeat and School of the Nations their second on Thursday, in the third round of the Sir Garfield Sobers Int’l Schools Cricket Tourney being played in Barbados.
Playing at Bridgefield, St Joseph went down to Lodge School of Barbados by 57 runs. Batting first, Lodge School rattled up 203-9 off their 40 overs.
Rashone Williams led the scoring with 37, followed by Tennyson Roach 28, Demarco Alleyne 26 and Shemway Harris and Jonathan Dowrich, 24 apiece. St Joseph skipper Kennard Moonsammy claimed 3-48, Nkosi Beaton 2-17, and Jeremiah Scott 2-31.
Taking their turn at the crease, the Guyanese lads made heavy weather of the target and were shot out for 146 in 26 overs.
Quinton Sampson led with 55, and he was supported by Dodi O’Selmo,25, and Jeremiah Scott and Timothy McCalmont, 17 each. For Lodge School, Rashone Williams claimed 3-26, Akeel Hoyte 3-44, Shemwayne Harris 2-19 and Jamali Lynch, 2-30.
At Bank Hall, Bryanston School of the UK beat ‘Nations’ by eight wickets. Taking first strike, ‘Nations’ were bundled out for a paltry 88 in 34.3 overs.
Mark Ramsammy topscored with 25, while Vishal Persaud and Mark Baptiste chipped in with 15 and 11, respectively. Hector Maclean, 5-11 and Alex Chetwood 3-6, were the chief destroyers for the UK school.
Bryanston then made light work of the meagre total, reaching 89-2 in 12.3 overs. Owen Morris was 44 not out and Max Truman made 38.
