A FORMER Police Sergeant, who is alleged to have sodomised a recruit of the Guyana Police Force in 2011, was on Friday charged and released on $70,000 bail when he appeared before City Magistrate Leron Daly.

It is alleged that Dexter Clementson, the Police Sergeant, who was attached to the Tactical Service Unit (TUS) at Eve Leary, Georgetown, on March 3, 2011 at TSU, Eve Leary engaged in sexual penetration of a 20-year-old male police recruit.

Clementson of Versailles Line Top, West Bank Demerara was represented by attorney Patrice Henry.

Reports indicate that prior to the incident; the accused had been pressured by Clementson, who was responsible for the training of recruits, to enter a relationship with him. When the recruit refused, he was allegedly victimised and subsequently raped.
