THE Guyana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA) is not satisfied with the manner in which the Mayor and City Council (M&CC) is slaughtering animals, and Mayor Patricia Chase-Green has since threatened disciplinary action to those who may be culpable.
At the statutory meeting earlier this week, Chase-Green said the GSPCA has voiced their concerns that the M&CC is not slaughtering in the correct manner at the moment.
She said should the organisation have reason to go out and protest this, those who are guilty will be disciplined.
By the end of July, she said, the stun gun and ammunition should be in place at the municipal abattoir, failing which disciplinary action will also be taken.
