THE World Boxing Council (WBC) has honoured the local boxers who participated in the Guyana Boxing Board of Control’s (GBBC) second edition of their WBC’s amateur boxing series which was staged recently at the Giftland Mall, East Coast Demerara.
At a simple ceremony held at the Abdool and Abdool Insurance Brokers Office, High Street, Georgetown last Tuesday, GBBC president Peter Abdool presented Akea Lamazon, Duel Augustine, Rewinna David and Kelon Isaacs with emblazoned caps and jerseys as well as medals, compliments of the WBC.
The GBBC president said the gift is a token of appreciation and he urged the pugilists to stay in the gym, in preparation for the third edition of the event which will be staged next month.
Abdool said that this tournament will take place even in the absence of professionals. The cost will be somewhat reduced and organisers will still be able to achieve their objective.
