THE Demerara Volleyball Association (DVA) served off their highly anticipated first division league at the National Gymnasium last evening.
Some of the country’s best players, both male and female will be on show during the championship, which will also see games being played at Goed Fortuin and Bartica.
Castrol Strikers, Bartica Warriors, Young Achievers and Demerara under 19 are the male teams competing, while on the Castrol strikers, Vanguards VC, Linden and Bartica Warriors are the female teams set to be on show in the league which will conclude on July 29.
President of the DVA Trevor Williams thanked the teams for not only showing up, but being well organized for the league.
Director of Sport Christopher Jones lauded the efforts the DVA for ensuring that league volleyball is played and offered the National Sports Commission’s (NSC) full support in other endeavors of the association.
Ansa McAl under their Stag Beer brand, Office of the Prime Minister, NSC, Ministry of Social Protection, Trophy Stall and Bakewell are the league’s sponsors.
