Digicel’s gifts to the schools

On Saturday Digicel Guyana handed over a quantity of back-to-school supplies to the Regional Education Officer Mrs. Baramdai Seepersaud of Region Two, Pomeroon Supenaam.
Digicel made the contribution during their visit to the Island for their second annual Triple treat curried duck and softball cricket competition. The donation is being made to assist those vulnerable children in the outlying areas of Region Two.

“The new school term begins on Monday and we thought it would be the best time to assist those who need it most. Giving back to those in need and supporting community and family oriented events is something that Digicel always finds time for, this is no different. We know this will reach the children thanks to the Department of Education” said PR manager, Vidya Sanichara. Mrs. Seepersaud thanked the cell phone company for their ‘timely’ donation, noting that it would go a long way for those children and parents who are in need.

The Department of Education in Essequibo usually conducts school visits at the beginning of the new school term and will be distributing the school packs during this time. Students that will benefit from Digicle’s donation are from Liam Sands, Pomeroon, Mainstay, Tapacuma, Kpaoey, Dredge creek, Mushado and Betheny.
