… Two more matches on today
FIRST-half goals were the order of the day when defending champions Wisburg Secondary blanked the Private Schools (Marcia Craig’s Institute and School of Excellence) 5-0, while New Silvercity Secondary edged the 2016 runners-up side Mackenzie High School 3-2, as the Edward ‘Screw’ Richmond Linden Schools football championship continued Wednesday afternoon at the Wisburg Secondary School ground.
Playing at home, Wisburg, who were crowned the 2016 champions last Monday, cruised past the slight challenge put up by the Private Schools Combined. Shannal Samuels led their charge with an opening goal scored in the 3rd minute and his second in the 8th minute, while in-between Joel Isaacs netted in the 6th minute. The other two goals were from the boot of Jonathan Copeland in the 13th minute and Omai Williams in the 35th minute.
In the other game, New Silvercity Secondary were winners by the odd goal as they beat Mackenzie High 3-2. Their goals came from the boot of Malachi Todd in the 11th minute, Ojahi Whittington in the 13th and Jude Forrester in the 30th minute.
The competition continues this afternoon at 14:45hrs when Linden Foundation face Christianburg/Wismar Secondary. The other at 16:15hrs is between Linden Technical Institute and Wisburg Secondary at the same venue.
When the 2017 championship began last week Wednesday 2015 champions Christianburg/Wismar Secondary (Multi) nailed Harmony 6-0 and in the other opening match Linden Technical Institute and Linden Foundation Secondary played to a nil-all draw. (Joe Chapman)
