Eight races carded for Kennard’s Turf Club Phagwah Day horse race meet

THE Kennard Turk Club located at Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne, Berbice, will stage an eight-race meet on March 19 in observance of the Hindu festival of Phagwah. The meet runs off from 13:00hrs.
The feature event which will cover a distance of one mile, is opened to horses classified `D’ and Lower and will carry a first prize of $700,000 and a trophy.

The second, third and fourth place finishers will earn $350,000, $175,000 and $88,000 respectively.
There are three five-furlong races as well as three six-furlong races.
The first five-furlong race is for horses classified `L’ and which are non winners.The winner will receive $100,000, while the second, third and fourth place finishers will earn $80,000, $25,000 and $13,000 respectively.

There will also be a five-furlong race for animals classified `L’ Open with the winner taking home $110,000, while the other top three finishers will earn $55,000, $27,000 and $14,000 respectively.
The final five-furlong race which will also be the final race of the day is for horses classified `K’ and Lower.The winner of this event will pocket $120,000, while the other top three performers will take home $60,000, $30,000 and $15,000 respectively.
Horses classified `I’ and Lower will battle over six furlongs for a first prize money of $150,000. The second, third and fourth place finishers will receive $75,000, $38,000 and $19,000 respectively.

The second six-furlong race is opened to horses classified `E1 Maiden and `F’ and Lower for a first prize of $400,000. The second, third and fourth place finishers will earn $200,000, $100,000 and $50,000 respectively.
Then there is the six-furlong race for three-year-old Guyana bred maiden horses with the first prize being $200,000. The second, third and fourth place prizes are $100,000, $50,000 and $25,000 respectively.

The other race on the day’s card is opened to horses classified `H’ and Lower and will cover a distance of seven furlongs.The winner will earn $220,000 while the other top three finishers will receive $110,000, $55,000 and $28,000 respectively.
Trainers and owners are asked to note that these races are being run under the rules of the Kennard Memorial Turf Club and owners of horses who would be registered will be required to pay at least $5000 for each horse at the time of entry.Should the fee not be paid, the horses’ name would not appear on the official programme and the horse will not be permitted to run.
