RAMONA Agard,a leading local referee/judge,was yesterday appointed Chairperson of the

Guyana Boxing Association Referee/Judge Commission.
Agard, who has over a decade of experience and a number of international competitions under her belt, was chosen to lead a team of five that will manage the affairs of the Commission and report to the executive of the association.
Agard’s assistant is vice- chairman Max Massiah while Guyana Defence Force officer Lawrence Assanah was appointed secretary.

Dexter Patterson and teenager Denola Bristol make up the five-member body which GBA president Steve Ninvalle branded as a mixture of youth and experience with a gender balance.
He extended gratitude to members of the last commission,which he declared served with dignity and dedication and noted that they still have an important part to play in the development of the fistic sport in Guyana.

Agard and her team were immediately flung into action as the GBA prepares for an International competition on February 18. The event is being sponsored by overseas based Alford McDonald and Seon Bristol.
