Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying this man

A 43-year-old Sand Creek miner from South Rupununi was remanded to prison on Thursday for the brutal murder of a man during a fight at a bar.

Fidel Spencer appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan and was not required to plead to the charge which alleged that between December 23 and December 24 at Iguana Creek, Cuyuni, Region 7 he murdered ‘Dougla.’

The Chief Magistrate remanded Spencer until January 13, 2017 and transferred the matter to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court.  According to reports, the man whose formal name is not yet known succumbed to the injuries inflicted and was pronounced dead at the Bartica Public Hospital. Reports indicate that the man was in the company of others drinking when a fight broke out during an argument.

The body of ‘Dougla’ who is said to be from Pomeroon-Supenaam (Region Two) is at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home and Crematorium waiting to be identified.
