Robbery accused put away for Christmas

A 24-YEAR-OLD robbery accused was on Wednesday put away for the Christmas holidays by City Magistrate Annett Singh after he pleaded not guilty to a charge of robbery.Kenrick Cozier of West Ruimveldt denied that on December 12 at Water Street, while being in the company of another man, he robbed Turbhuvan Kalamoodeen of a Blackberry cellphone valued $40,000 along with $2,000 cash.

According to the police prosecutor, on the day in question Kalamoodeen was walking north along Water Street when he was approached by the defendant along with another man who relieved him of the articles.

The prosecutor objected to Cozier being released on bail on the seriousness and prevalence of the charge. The Magistrate ruled in the prosecutor’s favour and remanded the accused until December 28.
