Also from a total of 19 reports of murder, 15 were solved. This aside, seizure of cannabis increased from last year and several marijuana fields were discovered and destroyed.
A total of 33 illegal firearms were taken out of the hands of criminals compared to 16 last year, with Region Seven taking the bigger slice of the pie.
Mention was made by the ‘F’ Division Commander of various forms of patrol which will be executed primarily during this Christmas season to ensure all communities and residents have a sense of confidence that all necessary precautions are being taken to ensure their safety.
The busy areas where people traverse and do business will see an increase of policemen on foot, ready and alert to serve and protect members of the public.
Bicycle patrols will be deployed covering the wider areas. Mounted patrols which are stationed at Lethem will be deployed to do their part in the fight against crime. Marine patrols will secure the water tops from piracy and bandits.
