WITH over 150 points in the lead and only a few finals remaining to be completed the Headquarters (HQ) division is more likely to victoriously defend their title when competition in the Guyana Police Force Inter-Division Championships concludes later today at the Police Sports Club ground.Today’s competition will peak with the finals in the 100m sprint events. The day will also include the 1500m and shot put finals, as well as the senior and junior officers 80m races and the tug-o-war finals.
The one-week competition started with the swimming last Sunday, where HQ quickly took the lead and have continued on that path ever since, entering today with 414 points.
Reminiscent of last year’s final standings ‘A’ Division are once again set up for another year at second place, entering today with 255 points. ‘C’ Division are safe in third with 105 points a good 31 points ahead of ‘B’ Division.
In the international category, having the home advantage Guyana are sure to win, while T & T are looking at a second-place finish. Guyana enter today with 156 points, while Trinidad have 50. The other competing countries in this category are Suriname and St Lucia, with 11 and 5 points respectively.
The action gets started at 14:00hrs today.
