JUSTICE Jo Ann Barlow on Monday issued a bench warrant for murder accused Raymond Pestano who faces a joint indictment with his father Roy Pestano Snr.The Pestanos are accused of killing their relative Davindand Ramlagan on October 19, 2002 at Number 41 Village, West Coast Berbice.
At Monday’s hearing, the senior Pestano had reported to the Berbice Assizes, accompanied by his Attorney Peter Hugh, as the State had expected to commence the third trial.
However, the co-accused and the attorney could not state the whereabouts of the younger Pestano. Consequently, an arrest warrant was issued.
Meanwhile, after the jury had failed to arrive at a verdict at the conclusion of the second trial, the men through their attorney made a bail petition before the then Chief Justice, Ian Chang and was granted pre-trial liberty in the sum of $450,000 each.
