A POLICE Corporal on Tuesday evening escaped unharmed after an execution attempt on his life.Gunmen opened fire at the Corporal while he was in his yard at Diamond, East Bank Demerara.
The incident occurred at about 23:30 hrs Tuesday night after the Corporal had just returned from watching cricket at the Guyana National Stadium.
The officer, who is also a Police prosecutor, explained that upon his arrival home, he was greeted by total darkness since there was a power outage. He parked his car on the bridge in front of his home and went into his yard.
“I went inside to get the dogs inside of their pens before bringing my car inside,” the Corporal disclosed.
Upon his return, gunmen opened fire at the officer but he managed to take cover from the hail of bullets before the gunmen shooters escaped.
The Prosecutor walked away unharmed while the lower flat of his home was riddle with bullets.
Ranks from the Diamond Police Station were summoned while he made checks with his family who were awaken from the gunshots.
Police ranks removed three spent shells casing along with warheads that were lodged inside the walls of the officer home.
“I didn’t see nothing because place was dark…. but if I walked little more I would have been shot,” the prosecutor said.
The motive of the apparent execution attempt is uncertain as Police investigates the case.
