THE fisherman who allegedly butchered his wife and two-year-old son has been deemed competent to face murder charges after a psychiatric evaluation, Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum has confirmed.According to reports, last Friday an intoxicated Suresh Ganesh of Best Village, West Coast Demerara (WCD) also chopped his mother about the body after accusing his wife of infidelity and blaming his mother for encouraging the situation. Ganesh was discharged from the hospital yesterday and is expected to be charged today.

The 28-year-old man reportedly killed his wife 34-year-old Vanessa Sukhram-Persaud and her two-year-old son Joel Ganesh. Ganesh also reportedly severed a hand of his 49-year-old mother, Jennifer Monplaisir.
Ganesh, who is known as ‘Battery’ and ‘Tarzan’ was apprehended at Samaroo Dam, Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara after allegedly attacking a resident and attempting to chop policemen. He was shot to the hand and leg.
Jennifer Monplaisir disclosed that her son wanted to kill her after murdering his wife and son. She confirmed that he attacked her with a cutlass first before returning to his shack. When asked the reason, she said her son had accused her of seeking male partners for his wife. The woman, whose right arm was almost severed during the attack, is nursing severe injuries to both arms.
Monplaisir opined that her son deliberately summoned her that morning with the intention of harming her. She related that all information needed for the police investigation will be provided willingly. Sukhram-Persaud, a mother of two, was found on a blood-soaked mattress with her neck almost severed, and with chops to her jaw, arms and fingers. Her son was found lying next to her with his intestines protruding.
