TWO men wanted for separate murders were apprehended Thursday after the police in ‘F’ Division (interior) made the arrests at separate locations.Leroy Ignacia, 21, of North Rupununi was wanted in connection with the murder of Terrence Robin on April 4, 2014, at Lethem.
Ignacia and Robin had a quarrel over a woman in April 2014 and it escalated into a fight. Ignacia allegedly stabbed Robin to his chest and he succumbed to the injury. Ignacia then fled to neighbouring Brazil and was caught while returning to Guyana.
Meanwhile, Orin Paul, aka “Ants,” was wanted for the murder of Eric Angel on May 5, 2016, at Black Water, Cuyuni. The suspects were arrested at separate locations in ‘F’ and ‘D’ Divisions.
The body of Angel was discovered after a botched robbery at Blackwater in the Upper Cuyuni. It was buried in the same district after a post-mortem was done. Angel was identified as a former Tactical Services Unit rank, a father of two, who previously resided at Number 10 Village, West Coast Berbice.
According to reports, two armed bandits at Blackwater, Upper Cuyuni, attempted to rob a Brazilian shop owner. The suspects attacked the shop owner and the man put up a fight. During the scuffle, one of the bandits accidentally stabbed his accomplice in the abdomen before escaping.
The deceased bandit was previously employed as a security guard at a camp in the interior. However, he lost his job after an argument at the camp, but instead of returning home he partnered with others and executed the robbery in which he lost his life.
