Scotiabank CFU Men’s Caribbean Cup Round 2 Guyana brushed aside 5-2 by Curacao

GUYANA’S Golden Jaguars were outplayed by Curacao last evening in the first of their second-round matches in the Scotiabank CFU Men’s Caribbean Cup. bamboozlePlaying away, the Guyanese were put on the back foot from early after Felitciano Zschusschen scored the first of his three goals in the 7th minute.
The Jaguars’ Sheldon Holder however evened things out in the 18th minute with his strike and it seemed to be heading for an all-square halftime before Gina Van Kessel hammered home the second goal for the Dutch in the 42nd minute.
The second half brought consecutive goals for the Dutch island, a 61st minute strike from Zschusschen and a 63rd minute strike from Van Kessel as they pulled out a 4-1 score line in front of their fans.
However, Guyana seemed on the verge of a comeback as Brandon Beresford slotted home in the 78th to give Guyana hope. However, that was later shattered as Zschusschen completed his brace in the 89th minute.
The Golden Jaguars will now travel to St Thomas where they will play the USVI on Saturday..
The top two teams will advance to the third round which is set for October.
