Team Guyana arrives safely in Jamaica … Matthew Vieira joins the superstock party

GUYANA’S team of motor racers arrived safely in Jamaica for the first leg of the Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) 2016 at the Jamwest Raceway this weekend.The team, who will be led by CMRC Group 4 defending champion Kristian Jeffrey and includes his father Kevin, both of whom will be competing in the four-wheel drive class of the recently split Group 4 division with Mitsubishi Evolutions.
Additionally, Danny Persaud (Mazda Miata) and Mohan Rangasammy (Mazda RX-7) will be Guyana’s representative in the two-wheel drive Group 4 divisions as well as Group 3 where they will be joined by Nazim Gafoor (Mazda Miata) and as Rameez Mohammed (Honda Civic).
Gafoor will be doubling up alongside Mohammed at the Group 2 level as well to try to get Guyana off to the required start needed in order to defend their country title.
Meanwhile, Matthew Vieira has confirmed that he will also be taking part in the super-stock class of the CMRC.
Vieira, who had not been initially named to the team, flew his bike to Jamaica today in an attempt to join the battle for Team Guyana.
The young Vieira will join his cousins Elliot and Stephen along with Paul Yearwood and Leroy Cort to make up team Guyana.
Today’s session will allow drivers and riders the opportunity at their first free practice while qualifying will take place tomorrow.
