THE scenic beauty of the Botanical Gardens will complement a ‘Jubilee Jazz Showcase’ which is billed for April 30, to commemorate UNESCO’s International Jazz Day.The event, which will be hosted from 16:00 to 18:00 hrs, will showcase the talent of Guyana’s top jazz musicians with popular calypsonian Tennicia DeFreitas headlining the event. The artiste will shift her genre and transition into a jazz artiste for that night. She has risen among the ranks of young female jazz artistes in the Tobago Jazz Circuit.

Coordinator of the event Andrew Tyndall explained that the programme is aimed at increasing public education on various forms of music, while developing an increased appreciation for good music among Guyanese.
According to Tyndall, International Jazz Day encourages and highlights the power of jazz as a force for freedom and creativity, promoting intercultural dialogue through respect and understanding, and uniting people from all corners of the globe.
The cast will also include Trevor John, leading Guyanese jazz keyboardist and the Jazz showcase band, Trevor Rogers, Peter Atherly, the National Steel Orchestra, Sean Bhola and Roy Stewart, among other artistes.
