Disappointment hits Penn Relays female team

THE FORT Wellington Team at the United States Penn Relays got off to a rocky start on day one of the Multi school and college Invitational event.The ladies team of Denita Jackson, Amesha Theusday, Amela Theusday and Allesia Grant were disqualified from the Girls 4x100m while in the 4x400m the team of Jackson, Amela Theusday, Grant and Latoya Giles did not finish the event
These results were taken from the Penn Relays website.
Today’s events will see Boys 4×100 for Small Schools today as well as Boys 4×800 while on Saturday, the High School Boys 4×400 will be run off.
The team is scheduled to depart the U.S. on May 5.
Meanwhile in a continuation of a story published in yesterday’s newspaper titled ‘Fort Wellington School athletes to take part in Penn Relays’, Chronicle Sport was reliably informed that several other companies assisted in the trip.
In addition to the airfares that Fly Jamaica Airways provided and the financial assistance that Captain Gerald Gouveia provided, several other companies also contributed.’
Those include Church’s Chicken, Ansa McAl (special thanks to Troy Cadogan), Frank Sanichara and Shakura Energy Drink, Noble House Seafoods, Mr Sherwin Greene and the Mark Benschop Foundation.
The Hindu Parades and Festival committee of Queens, New York, also got the ball rolling on the initiative.
