(Trinidad Express) MURDERED Guyanese national Kemraj Ramkaran travelled to Trinidad seeking a better life. He was employed as a construction worker and toiled tirelessly to provide for his poverty-stricken family back home. His friend, Guyanese national Kumar Shivprashad, has appealed for assistance to take Ramkaran’s body back to his family in Guyana.
“I wish somebody can help my friend to go back to Guyana. His family is very poor and he came here to work and send for his family. All they would want is to bury him and we need help to get his body home,” said Shivprashad.
Ramkaran, 28, was shot and killed following an argument outside his rented apartment, in Duncan Village, San Fernando, on Monday night.
His friend, Sean Boodoo, was critically wounded in the shooting.
Police said Ramkaran and Boodoo were standing in the front yard when they were confronted by a man.
The men began arguing and the gunman fired several shots.
Ramkaran was hit in the face, while Boodoo was struck in the abdomen.
Ramkaran collapsed and died at the scene. His friend was taken to San Fernando General Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
“We were all renting together. We were inside liming and drinking and I hear shots fired. I ran outside and see my friend dead,” said Shivprashad.
He said his friend was a quiet man who enjoyed playing cricket.
His body was removed to the Forensic Science Centre in St James.
A team of police officers from the Southern Division, including ASP Rawle Ramdeo and Insp Don Gajadhar, visited the scene.
