THE police are hunting 50-year-old Bibi Nazeela Habiboodean of Ruby, East Bank Essequibo (EBE). She is wanted in connection with the murder of her father, 76-year-old Habiboodean, in 2008.
This aspect of this murder investigation follows the confession made by Linden Lewis, 28, called ‘Bullet’, of Tuschen, EBE, which detectives obtained while he was in custody with others in connection with the Good Hope, EBE murder of rice farmers Mohammed and Jamilla Munir.
Police disclosed that, under interrogation, ‘Bullet’ ‘spilled the beans’ and gave details of the plot to murder Habiboodean. He told investigators that his payment for the businessman’s murder was expected to be over $5M and a plot of land with a house.
However, after committing the dastardly act, he returned to the conspirators and was given less than $10,000 and told to hide away in the interior. He was never given the agreed reward, but was chased away by the conspirators.
‘Bullet’ related to investigators that Habiboodean’s daughter wanted his assets, including all his properties, businesses and cash. It was further revealed that five persons had conspired to kill the businessman.
On February 15, 2008, the elder Habiboodean died at a hospital after being badly beaten in his Ruby, EBE home. Later in February, 2008, the dead man’s former employee, Terry Lewton, 38, of Vergenoegen, EBE and his daughter Bibi Nazeela Habiboodean were charged with the murder. They were eventually discharged after there was insufficient evidence to convict them.
According to Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum, three persons are in custody assisting with these investigations as police hunt for Habiboodean’s daughter.
